Proof That I Live in the Desert

Well, it's official. I've convinced myself. I live in the desert! ;) One of my new favorite places in Ellensburg is the Umtanum Recreation site. I took a little hike there today. I did not go as far as I would have liked to, due to being massively out of shape. Still, I did decently and got awesome pics. Here they are!

That's one of my favorite areas too. If you take the high trail that veers off to the left, the trail ends up changing from sage-brush to meadow to sage-brush and back again for a long, long time. I've yet to reach the end of it. Watch out for rattlesnakes though! They're prevalent in the deeper parts of Umtanum. I like Taneum trail as well; there's a route on Thorp HW that'll take you there, though I'm never the one that drives to that one...

I hate the thought of rattlesnakes! Ack. What is a good way to safeguard against them? (Especially since I am deaf!) Googling the Taneum trail now. It sounds fun, and I will check it out soon!
